Cathleen Beachboard

Teacher  -  Author  -  Speaker  -  Storyteller

Trainer of Heroes

Cathleen Beachboard has worked for fifteen years teaching and empowering students in her English Language Arts classes. Growing up as a struggling dyslexic student, she learned the power of showing people their strengths instead of their weaknesses. Through an amazing student driven transformation (featured in this book) Cathleen learned the keys to empowerment. Her new life mission is to equip educators and students with the power and the ability to change the world.

 

Cathleen graduated from West Liberty University with a degree in English Education. Over the years, Cathleen has served as an instructional coach, SIM professional developer, speaker, storyteller and currently serves as an 8th grade English teacher at Taylor Middle School.

 

Cathleen is married to Matthew and together they have seven beautiful children, five of which they adopted out of foster care during their first year of marriage. Between the kids, their pug, and labradoodle, they have a full house!  Cathleen teaches in Fauquier and can frequently be seen on Twitter as @CathleenBeachbd creating digital communities of educational empowerment.

Marynn Dause

Teacher  -  Speaker  -  Author  -  Poet

Trainer of Teacher Heroes

Marynn Dause is a National Board Certified Teacher who seeks passion and purpose with all of her English Language Arts students. As a trauma survivor and adoptive mother of a teenaged son, Marynn deeply values the social-emotional aspects of education and champions trauma-informed care for all learners. Marynn's goal is to help her students live well by becoming "heroes in their own lives."

 

Marynn graduated with her B.A. and M.A.Ed. from the College of William and Mary. Marynn serves as Past President of the Virginia Association of Teachers of English; prior to that she served five years on the advisory board for the Virginia Student Councils’ Association. Marynn has taught middle and high school students at all levels in Virginia for nine years. She has also worked as a professional developer, tutor, and university supervisor. Marynn currently studies as a doctoral student at the University of Virginia's School of Education and Human Development and is over the moon about teaching at the Field School next year.

 

Marynn has a cat named Emily Dickinson and a rescued Basenji named Slipper. She is married to the wonderful Mr. Dause. Their son came home to stay in 2016. On the weekends, Marynn enjoys gardening, hiking, kayaking, knitting, and sipping espresso. Marynn can be found on Twitter and LinkedIn as @DauseClause.
